On behalf of and in conjunction with our Parish Government,
I would like to inform you about our recent formation of the "Keep
Washington Parish Beautiful Campaign". You may have already learned from
the news media of this newly formed committee. "Keep Washington Parish
Beautiful is designed to benefit every part of Washington Parish by not only
improving the appearance of our beautiful parish, but making it a place of
prosperity for all. This program will utilize school organizations, civic
groups, community volunteers, law enforcement, and even in coordination with
our local correctional facility to help in performing planned pickups along our
highways and communities.
You also may have learned of the $15,000.00 grant and the
$5,000.00 match our Parish Government has made. We have four aspects of using
these funds:
1. Awareness, 2. Education,
3. Enforcement, and 4. Cleanups.
We know that these funds will not accomplish all that is
needed. It is a first step towards being able to accomplish more
than what has been done before.
We sponsored a program in which our youth of the parish were
asked to design a logo for our "Keep Washington Parish Beautiful"
theme. Many wonderful submissions were received and Christina Smith, from Angie
Jr. High was selected as the winner. The logo appears at the top of
this page and we are very proud it. Thank you Christina.
