WASHINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

 

RESOLUTION NO.10-468

 

The following resolution was offered for adoption by the Washington Parish Council on motion by __ Andre’ Johnson__, seconded by __Michael Fussell__.

 

A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR

 THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

 

In consideration of the fact that May 6, 2010 has been proclaimed as National Prayer Day for the purpose of keeping fresh the ideas of our religious freedoms.

 

            WHEREAS, spiritual liberty is the first of all liberties and expressly so emphasized in the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of

America, and recognized in the immortal words of the Declaration of Independence

of the United States; and

 

            WHEREAS, we recognize that our great country and specifically the Parish of Washington, has been so bountifully blessed by our great God with abundant natural

resources, and moral, respectful and patriotic citizens who endeavoring to raise their families in this parish; and

 

            WHEREAS, we are aware that prayer is an essential part of most religious

beliefs, and knowing that our nation is beset with may problems that are not easily

solved, and recognizing that we need Divine help in arriving at solutions to these

problems.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Parish of Washington on

this day, in conjunction with our United States Government, declare that May 6, 2010 be

recognized as a day of prayer in Washington Parish.

 

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, we recommend that all churches, synagogues,

and other worship centers in Washington Parish strive to emphasis this day of prayer

to their constituents.

 

            The Resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as

follows:

 

            YEAS: (7) Johnson, Thomas, Route, Posey, Wheat, Fussell and Nassauer

 

            NAYS: (0)__

 

            ABSTAIN: (0)__

 

            ABSENT: (0)__
