AN ORDINANCE ENTER= ING INTO AN

INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT AND LEASE

FOR THE WASHINGTON PARIS= H ANIMAL SHELTER

<= /b>

WHEREAS, Washington Parish presently has no animal shelter but = has access for funding for construction of an animal shelter; and

WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana owns property located at the B.B. “Sixty” Rayburn Correctiona= l Center; and

WHEREAS the best interest of the Parish of Washington and the S= tate of Louisiana would be served by the construction of an animal shelter on the grounds of the B.B. “Sixty” Rayburn Correctional Center which w= ould provide an opportunity for the development of a work/training/educational program for inmates as well as the inmates providing manual labor and assistance in operating the facility; and

WHEREAS, Article 7 Section 14(C) of the Constitution of the Sta= te of Louisiana, La. R.S. 33:1324 et seq= ., and La. R.S. 41:1291 through 1294 permits the entering into of an intergovernmental agreement and lease between the Parish of Washington and = the State of Louisiana;

THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, that the Washington Parish Government enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement and Lease with the State of Louisiana, through the Department of Public Safety and Corrections/B.B. “Sixty” Rayburn Correctional Center for the construction and operation of the “Washington Parish Animal Shelter” in accordan= ce with the terms and conditions of the Intergovernmental Agreement and Lease = attached hereto and made a part hereof.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the Parish President is authorized= to enter into the Intergovernmental Agreement and Lease for the “Washing= ton Parish Animal Shelter” in accordance with the terms and conditions of= the agreement attached hereto and made a part hereof.
