District # 7 – Councilman - Vice Chairman AUBREY L. POSEY
I was born and raised on a small farm out from Sicily Island, LA. It is a small community in North Louisiana. I graduated from Sicily Island High School and attended LSU to continue my education, receiving a B.S. in Vocational Agricultural Education. Upon graduation, I received my Commission, as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force; .serving for 4 years and attaining the rank of Captain; serving at March Air Force Base in Riverside California, the Philippines, Guam and Okinawa during the Viet Nam Conflict. I received my Master's Degree from LSU in Extension Education, also. In 1968, I went to work for the LSU Agricultural Center (County Agent's Office) here in Washington Parish. Through this career, I have served as 4-H Club Agent, County Agent assigned to Dairy and Beef Education work and Parish Chairman (Administrator for local office). I retired in January 2007. I am married to Minnie Q. Shelton and we have five children (Aubrey Jr., Melody Todd, Jason, Justin and our youngest, Mindy, who attends LSU.) Our daughter-in-laws are Danielle, Erin and Sharon Posey and son-in-law is Michael Todd. We have 4 grandchildren (Heather Sullivan, Kreig and Kevin Todd and Aubrey Eugene Posey and are awaiting two more grandsons in March and April 2008. I am on several community boards in Franklinton and the parish, which include the following; Dixie Baseball Association; Farm Bureau; Franklinton Parks and Recreation Commission; Franklinton Chamber of Commerce; Washington Parish Fair Association; Cattlemen's Organization; Washington Parish Junior Livestock Committee; and the Upward Basketball Program. I have assisted many school organizations with their fund raising activities and still involved with judging in the 4-H Program and assisting in the livestock shows. We are members of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Franklinton, LA, where I serve on the Board of Deacons, substitute Sunday School Teacher, and Upward Basketball Co-director. As your incoming Parish Councilman of District 7, I want to offer my services to assist the residents of this parish in anyway that I can to help make Washington Parish a better place for us to live, work and raise our families. There are always improvements that can be made and it is my desire that we all can work together and work with our other agencies to prepare Washington Parish for the future and bring more jobs into the parish. I am willing to listen to your concerns and work with you in finding solutions. I truly appreciate your support of me by your vote and will continue to work for a better and more improved Washington Parish. Together with God's help, we can accomplish much!
