For anyone who is looking to volunteer or foster for the Washington Parish Animal Shelter, you may pick up an application at the shelter or at the Parish Presidents' office.

If the shelter is "Closed" during normal business hours this may be because of (transport, vet visits, or other circumstances) please call the number listed on thos page and leave a voicemail with your concerns.

All relinquishments must be done by appointment.

The WPAS is not an emergency service and cannot intake ( cats, aggressive animals, sick/ injured animals) the WPAS does not have a vet on staff to help with these issues.

Any animals dropped off or abandoned can be euthanized within 24 hours. This is illegal and any violators will be prosecuted.

The WPAS is at this time no kill- for population, this does not include illegal drop off's, sick/ injured animals, or aggressive animals (which can be euthanized immediately). This also means the shelter may become full of animals if this does happen you may call to be placed on the WPAS's waiting list on this page we offer some other alternatives.
