Overview
The Washington Parish Planning Commission was created in 2006 by the Washington Parish Council (Ordinance 06-379). The Planning Commission is made up of 7 members: seven members appointed by the Parish Council. Terms will be as follows:
- Three appointees shall serve three year terms
- Two appointees shall serve four year terms
- Two appointees shall serve five year terms
If a vacancy occurs otherwise than by expiration of the term, it shall be filled by the original appointing authority for the unexpired term.
The powers and duties of the Parish Planning Commission shall be as provided by law, particularly as set forth in LA R.S. 33: 106 et seq., except that no master plan is or shall be required as a matter of law for the unincorporated areas of the parish within the jurisdiction of the Parish Planning Commission. The Washington Parish Council will retain the authority to approve and enforce the regulations recommended by the Parish Planning Commission.
